This Seminar aims to present the specific nature of Calcium. Aluminate Cement (CAC) and the Engineering properties of CAC based concretes. A special focus is made to explain the exceptional durability of CAC concrete exposed to H2S biogenic corrosion in sewers. The relevant standards will also be reviewed. Examples of actual projects made with CAC concrete are presented.

Introduction:
The Workshop is organised to present papers and discuss initiatives on the sustainability of concrete as a construction material.

The Workshop will be of importance and interest to the ready-mixed and precast concrete manufacturers, concrete technologists, contractors, consulting engineers and researchers.

The various issues to be presented are listed in the programme.

Dr C T Tam, a well-known professional engineer who specialises on concrete research and consultancy will lead the Workshop with the Introductory Lecture on the Role of EN and SS standards in Sustainable Concrete. Other prominent professionals and researchers will present their findings and amongst them include:

-Prof C S Poon, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Research activities on recycled aggregate concrete at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
